Green Bridge 412 Seeks Volunteers to Expand Successful Recycling Program
Over a year after launching Green Bridge 412, founder Kabeer Chopra is looking for volunteers to help with the growing demand for his free recycling service. With more than 150 sign-ups across Fox Chapel and Aspinwall, the program has already collected an impressive 6,211 glass bottles, 642 pounds of plastic packaging, and 334 pounds of household batteries that would otherwise end up in landfills.
"It's like a gap in the community that needs to be filled," Chopra explains. "Without me picking it up, it would end up in a landfill. That would be worse for the environment." Volunteers don't need to be Fox Chapel residents or commit to weekends - flexible scheduling is available, and the only requirement is "a desire to help people."
The article also highlights Chopra's recent appointment as junior council member, with Councilman Brad Harrison noting, "His work ethic, interest in continuing to work with and learn about local government, and his servant style of leadership were key factors in his application."

"Before this I wasn't aware of how much work goes into running the meetings and a borough," said Chopra. "It's a great opportunity to learn from leaders in my own community." Kabeer founded Green Bridge 412 last year and volunteers his recycling services to Fox Chapel residents, collecting glass, batteries and plastics free of charge weekly for his fellow neighbors.
