LET’S RECYCLE RIGHT

Did you know that Vogel Disposal Service does not recycle glass, plastic packaging or used batteries? Or, even if you knew, you probably don’t have the time to take them to different collection centers. That’s where Green Bridge 412 comes in.  We collect hard-to-recycle items like plastic packaging, glass and used batteries from your home and deposit them with specific re-use programs. Started by a local high school student as a community service initiative, Green Bridge 412 makes it easy for you to get rid of these items in responsible ways. All you need to do is to separate them from your trash and we’ll do the rest.

CLOSING THE GAP IN 3 EASY STEPS

WHY WE COLLECT

Vogel does not recycle plastic packaging, glass or used batteries

If not taken to the right recycling centers, they end up in our landfills

Plastic packaging jams up recycling machines, crushed glass makes cardboard unusable and used batteries can leech harmful chemicals in our ecosystem. Which is why they are not collected by Vogel Disposal Service. Green Bridge 412 can help you take the extra step of dropping these items at dedicated repurposing centers. And together, we can take a huge step towards protecting our planet. We can prevent non-biodegradable items from entering our landfills, conserve natural resources that go into manufacturing these items from scratch, and decrease the emission of green house gases.

WHERE WE DROP OFF

Making our community more sustainable

We deposit glass with Fox Chapel Borough, plastic materials with Giant Eagle and used batteries with retailers like Staples

Green Bridge 412 takes your household glass to the collection center at the Fox Chapel Borough building. FC has partnered with Carry All Products to repurpose the glass used in our community. The more we recycle, the more grants our borough earns to fund the operations we rely on. We take all accepted plastic packaging materials and drop them off at Giant Eagle’s collection centers, where they are turned into eco-friendly outdoor products in partnership with Trex. Even though Allegheny County is phasing out single-use plastic bags, there continue to be many other types of plastic materials in our homes that can be repurposed. And we drop off used household batteries with collection centers at various retailers like Staples and Home Depot.
